By Garry Schalla, Development Director Mountain Family Health Centers will host lunch and tours during National Health Center Week, August 13 – 16, at several of our locations. The theme this year is Celebrating Health Centers: Home of America’s Health Care Heroes.
Mountain Family provides high quality medical, dental, and behavioral health care to more than 21,000 patients in Pitkin, Garfield, Eagle, and Rio Blanco counties, with an annual savings of $18.1 million. Our dedication to excellent care at an affordable price is an essential link in the larger national health center network, who have a long success in providing access to affordable, high quality, cost effective health care to medically vulnerable and underserved people throughout the United States. 85% of MFHC patients live at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.
To better serve our patients in the Roaring Fork Valley, MFHC is expanding services and creating a new, state-of-the-art health center in Basalt. Building Health for All: The Basalt Integrated Health Center Campaign for $3.4 million will allow Mountain Family to significantly increase the number of patients receiving care in the Roaring Fork Valley, from 2,000 to 3,700, as well as offering medical, dental, and behavioral integrated care in one location. MFHC plans to open the MFHC Edwards Regional Integrated Health Complex in 2020, also a state-of-the-art center with fully integrated medical, behavioral and dental health care.
Also, in 2017 and 2018 MFHC has increased Substance Use Disorder treatment options for patients affected by the opioid epidemic. MFHC is now offering Title X (ten) family planning services in the Eagle River Valley.
