Behavioral Health Provider Oyen Hoffman is the winner of the May 2019 Exemplary Care Award. Oyen is a Clinical Specialist and Substance Abuse Supervisor and was nominated by Director of Integrated Care and Basalt Site Medical Director Dr. Anneliese Heckert. Also nominated were Dr. Gail Mizner, Corrinne Johnson, PA, and Behavioral Health Provider Barbra Corcoran.
“Oyen held a lunch-and-learn with the Rifle health center team to discuss the MAT [Medication-Assisted Treatment] program. A basic definition and overview would surely have left us with more questions than answers. Instead Oyen focused on teaching us that addiction is a disease and how the symptoms are often uncomfortable to deal with for those of us trying to help. He really put in the time and effort to educate the whole staff about putting aside the stigma of addiction and created a space for us to voice questions and concerns. I personally came away feeling proud to work at Mountain Family where our agenda is always patients first.
