November 2022: Silvia Santana, Quality Improvement Senior Manager
I am nominating Silvia for the Mariposa award because I always knew she was awesome, but I didn’t know how deep that awesomeness ran until she took the QI Manager position. In her first year in the role Silvia has had to learn everything about UDS reporting, the ins and outs of Rocky Mountain Health Plan reporting, and a little thing called Patient Centered Medical Home. I’m so grateful for Silvia’s willingness to dive in and figure it out. From making the monthly trophy awarding a fun and exciting thing to look forward to, to organizing our PDSA process so we actually know what is happening and are asking folks to follow up and share results, Silvia has gotten us going on a strong path of continuous quality improvement as we come out of the haze of COVID.

December 2022: Concepcion Ruiz, School-Based Health Centers Site Practice Director
Connie Ruiz is very deserving of this Mariposa Award. She has been committed to Mountain Family mission and core values for over 9 years. Connie has grown as a leader in this organization since becoming Site Practice Director for School Based Health Centers.
Our School Based Health Centers opened in 2020 as we were going through a pandemic and thus never really established as schools were doing remote learning. Connie took over the Site Practice Director role in 2021 and has managed to coordinate 5 school-based sites and start 4 of them “from the ground up.” She has helped establish a great team of staff that are passionate about providing care for patients at the school locations. Connie’s time management skills, organization and planning continue to amaze me. She is able to oversee 5 sites, work with staff members remotely as needed, manage to visit each site weekly and touch base with all of the staff and make it possible to meet all our needs. She has established a working relationship with individuals at the school districts and built bridges to provide care to students that otherwise would have found it difficult to have access to a medical home when parents are working or have transportation issues. We are very fortunate to have Connie as a leader on our team.
–Nataly Meraz, School-Based Health Centers Registered Nurse
January 2023: Yanice Quezada Bencomo, Integrated Care Assistant
Yanice is a vital member of the SBHC team — consistently offering her clinical talents, compassion, and humor to move the MFHC mission forward. She is constantly seeking opportunities to learn asking questions and showing interest in learning new skills. She is calm in stressful situation and demonstrates flexibility throughout the work week to support our team. Yanice is absolutely deserving of this award and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to honor her.

February 2023: Alondra Bustillos, Dental Assistant Lead
I would like to nominate Alondra Bustillos, I have seen how much Alondra has grown from a dental assistant to a dental lead. Her peers respect her as a peer and a friend. Alondra is always willing to step up and make sure the dental department is functionning. Alondra is the go-to person for answers in regard to material being ordered and PAR submission.
