August: Amber Falk, Health Information Specialist

“I know Amber both personally and professionally — no matter what setting she is in, she’s the hot pink sparkles in the room. She has had such a huge impact on the team here in Edwards and our community we serve, she is the happy Good Morning (after her coffee) when you walk in and the smile walking around every corner. She has completely inundated our office with Disney characters and holds just about every baby that walks through our doors. She helps out the team, is a rockstar with patients, and has absolutely become essential to our morale. On a personal level, I know she is the type of friend that will get out of bed in the middle of the night and rush across town if you need her. She has a huge heart and completely encompasses everything Mountain Family stands for. I am excited to be working with her more for Eagle County Outreach and watch her represent us in the most positive way possible. We are lucky to have her!”

September: Gail Mizner, MD

Since I arrived at Mountain Family eight years ago, Gail has provided me with excellent guidance on countless very complex adult patients who I likely would not have been able to care for without her assistance. By providing her consultation services at MFHC, she saves each patient thousands of dollars they would otherwise have to pay to see specialists. She holds herself and all of our clinical care team to a very high standard of care, which leads to improved quality and improved patient outcomes. Gail has also stepped up in many other ways in recent years. She provided guidance to our COVID leadership team throughout the pandemic. She worked with our pharmacy development team to come up with a list of important, but typically unaffordable, medications to roll out our uninsured patients at much lower cost (again literally saving each patient thousands of dollars and improving outcomes). Last, but not least, she has set up recurring education sessions for clinical staff that have been very well received and help foster a culture of lifelong learning in our organization. We cannot thank Gail enough for all she does and her history of mentoring doctors, nurses, and MAs in our clinics.

October: Reyna Peters, Billing Supervisor

Since I started here Reyna has been a quiet and consistent leadership presence at the Glenwood Springs Hub site and beyond. From coming in for vaccine clinics on her day off to now covering for Wendy while she’s on sabbatical, Reyna has always been a wonderful example of what it means to be part of a team on a mission. In particular, I think that Reyna deserves this recognition in this moment because she stepped out of her comfort zone pretty significantly, and that isn’t an easy thing to do. Reyna has had to learn new things, such as the new COVID vaccine recording protocol, and lead communication on a new state benefit that even the state didn’t have clarity on when it went into effect. We are so lucky to have Reyna in our family!
