2018 Ross Brooks

By Ross Brooks, Chief Executive Officer

At Mountain Family Health Centers, we believe access to affordable health care is a basic human right, not a privilege. Our recently opened Basalt Integrated Health Center ensures Roaring Fork Valley residents and workers have access to high-quality, integrated, primary medical, behavioral and dental health care, regardless of one’s insurance status or ability to pay. As a community, we ask for your support of this important asset.

In January 2019, we relocated and expanded our Basalt health center to a new, 9,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility located at 123 Emma Road, right off Highway 82 and next to a Roaring Fork Transportation Authority (RFTA) bus stop. At this new clinic, you can see your doctor, dentist and mental health professional at one location. Mountain Family’s health care professionals work with you as a team, ensuring all your health and wellness needs are addressed in a holistic manner.

In our region, access to affordable health care has been identified as a top health and economic issue for decades. This is particularly true for access to behavioral health services, which includes mental health counseling and treatment for substance use disorders such as opioid and alcohol addictions.

Numerous partners have joined Mountain Family’s efforts to increase access to integrated care in the Roaring Fork Valley by supporting our Building Health for All: Basalt Health Center capital campaign. Aspen Valley Hospital, Pitkin County, and Eagle County are providing substantial support for MFHC Basalt’s space and for uncompensated care over the long-term, along with several local, state and national foundations. Local businesses such as the Aspen Skiing Company, Colorado Mountain College, Mind Springs Health and the Roaring Fork School District are key partners supporting Mountain Family Health Centers.

We are more than half-way done raising the funds for our Mountain Family Basalt capital campaign and we’re aiming to raise the final $1.5 million to close the campaign by December 31, 2019. Your support is essential to the ensuring full funding for this valuable community asset. If you give now, your donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar, thanks to generous challenge grants by the Aspen Skiing Company, an anonymous donor and the Alpenglow Foundation. Thank you for considering contributing to Mountain Family Health Centers’ Basalt Integrated Health Center, at whatever amount is meaningful for you, to ensure all residents of the Roaring Fork Valley have access to high-quality, integrated medical, behavioral and dental health services.
