Basalt staff 2018

By Garry Schalla, Development Director

Your donations to the Basalt Capital Campaign will be matched dollar-for-dollar this month, thanks to generous challenge grants by the Aspen Skiing Company, an anonymous donor and the Alpenglow Foundation.

Through community-minded individuals and foundations, Mountain Family Health Centers has raised $1.7 million to support the new Basalt Integrated Health Center. Mountain Family is closing the gap on our $3.2 million goal during our fundraising homestretch for the new health center, which is located at 123 Emma Road.

Your donation and matching funds will support the vital new health center, which offers integrated medical, dental and behavioral health care for all Roaring Fork Valley residents. The new location allows Mountain Family to increase the number of persons receiving care each year to 3,700—a 75% increase.

The new Basalt Integrated Health Center provides essential solutions to critical health care challenges in the Roaring Fork Valley. Those problems include:

  • The skyrocketing cost of health insurance is no longer affordable for many working families
  • Extremely limited access to medical, dental and behavioral (mental) health professionals who accept Medicaid

Our generous supporters include the Vera and Joseph Dresner Foundation, Colorado Health Foundation, Denver Foundation Colorado Health Access Fund, Aspen Skiing Company – Community Cares Fund, Caring for Colorado Foundation, Gates Family Foundation, El Pomar Foundation, Robert Pew, as well as generous support from Aspen Valley Hospital, Pitkin County, the Alpenglow Foundation, Eagle County, the Rose Foundation, the Betty Jane Schuss and Donor Advised Funds at the Aspen Community Foundation, The Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment, the Town of Snowmass Village, the Aspen Thrift Shop, the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and many generous individual donors.

Mountain Family Health Centers would like to extend a big, heartfelt thank you to our donors.
